Description

A big East Mountains loop - very cool ride. The 217 rollers are classic and the backside of Heartbreak is also very nice.
  • Take your favorite route to Tramway/Central at the mouth of Tijeras Canyon.
  • Ride E on Highway 333 (aka Route 66) to Tijeras.
  • Ride S on Highway 337 (aka South 14) up to Oak Flat, continue over the top down the other side.
  • At the bottom of the descent, turn left onto Highway 217 in the "village" of Yrisarri.
  • Ride N on 217. When you get to I-40, cross over it and continue N on what is now Mountain Valley Rd.
  • Turn right and ride E on Frost Rd (NM 472)
  • Turn left on NM 344. Stay on 344 until it t-bones into NM14. You will turn to the E in Cedar Grove, then after a couple more miles back to the N, and then to the NW where the climb up the backside of Heartbreak (ie. Breakheart) starts.
  • Turn left on NM 14 and W and S back to Tijeras.
  • Ride W on Highway 333 (aka Route 66) back to Abq.
