With spring (winter?) winds like only New Mexico can provide, and a crowd
of spectators cheering them on, together with snow, sleet, and rain, 162 people
raced at Skydrome Circuit Race #3 on Sunday, April 22, 2001.
 
If it weren't for our dedicated volunteers and sponsors, the race wouldn't
have happened:
 
- Bill Mclain and Jim Bartolino, and a handful of Colorado officials, who gave
  us their officiating expertise,
- Linard from ACA who also officiated,
- Tom Spross, Tom Wilson, Lou Metzger, Darian Founds and Jim's friend Doug,
  who worked the 6 a.m. chain gang in freezing weather setting up orange barrels
  and road signs (Doug actually spent hours on Sat., loading up the barricade truck),
- Phil Shew and Mark Mico for working the breakdown chain gang,
- Tom Wilson and Darian's girlfriend for working registration,
- U-Haul Rio Rancho for the pro-deal on their truck rental,
- Rio Rancho Public Works Dept. for sweeping the streets and for loaning us a
  truckload of barricades and signs,
- Rio Rancho Parks & Rec. for co-sponsoring the race, and for the velodrome site
  landscape design,
- REI for the great discount coupons, the tables & chairs, series prizes, and
  the donated pop-up tents (that we'd have been crazy to set up under
  yesterday's winds).. 
- and of course, to Stephen Knight-Williamson, for his awesome work running
  the ACA camp and bringing in all the junior racers.
