NM Bike Racers E-Mail List

Last modified: Tue Feb 23, 2010 14:00:02
The bike-racers mailing list should be used for information exchange among members of ACA, USCF, NORBA, and NCCA. As of January 2005 there are about 500 racers from throughout New Mexico (and some outside of New Mexico) subscribed to the list. Please note that postings relating something local to, say, Albuquerque are also seen by many people in other cities around the state. Please be courteous with your postings.
The list works by forwarding all email sent to it to all the subscribers to the list. To send a message, address it to: bike-racers@swcp.com.
It will then be automatically forwarded to everyone. This is a "closed" list, meaning that only subscribers to the list can send mail through it. This is to help keep the spam out of the list. It also means that only subscribers can find out who the other subscribers are.
NOTE: Please do not send large files or files with attachments through the list. And please use plain text formatting.

Confirmation Letter

After you subscribe to the bike racers mail list you will receive a confirmation letter that's something like the following:
>>>> info bike-racers
[Last updated on: Fri Jul 25 14:45:57 1997]

Welcome to the bike-racers list!

The bike-racers mailing list should be used for information exchange
among members of the ACA, USCF, NORBA, and NCCA.  If demand exists,
we can set up more lists that are regionally oriented like
bike-racers-abq, or bike-racers-lascruces. Each list, however, costs $50
to set up and $5 per month to maintain. The NMBRA surcharge you pay in
your race entries has paid to set this list up.

Commands

All administrative actions for the bike-racers list (such as routine subscribe/unsubscribe requests) are handled automatically by way of a special e-mail address on the list machine, namely: majordomo@swcp.com
You ask Majordomo to perform various tasks on your behalf by sending e-mail to the address above containing one or more appropriate commands as listed below. Note that the commands must appear in the body of your message since the Subject: line is ignored, and that the last command in any request should be the END command (this prevents Majordomo from attempting to interpret any signature lines you might have at the end of your message).
Possible Majordomo commands are (commands can be typed in either upper or lower case):
SUBSCRIBE bike-racers
Subscribe yourself to the list.

UNSUBSCRIBE bike-racers
