NMBRA Upgrade/Downgrade Requirements

Last modified: Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:16:53
Road upgrades/downgrades through category 2 will be processed by the NMBRA Upgrade Coordinator as described on this page. The NMBRA upgrade requirements have been adapted somewhat from those in the USAC rulebook to reflect the smaller field sizes in New Mexico. Upgrades to category 1 will be processed by the USAC Regional Coordinator, George Heagerty, according to the requirements in the USAC rulebook. Mountain, Track and Cyclocross upgrades will be processed exactly as described in the USAC rulebook.
All upgrade/downgrade requests are handled online via the USA Cycling website. Login, go to your "My USA Cycling" page, and click on the "License Info" tab. Way over to the right of your current category info, in the "Action" column, are a series of links, the bottom of which is "Upgrade/Downgrade". Follow that link, fill out the form as described below and submit it.
For upgrade requests, include a resume of your recent racing results. Your resume MUST include: race name, race date, type of event, category, field size, and placing. Your request may be rejected without complete resume information. Only races permitted by USAC will count for upgrading. Overall Omnium results, Time Trials, Cyclocross, Track, and MTB races do NOT count for road upgrades. For downgrade requests, submit a brief description of why you want a downgrade. For questions or help, contact Steve Mathias (ph: 505-385-1314, e-mail)
When deciding whether a rider qualifies for an upgrade, the administrator will take into account points earned in qualifying events per the tables below. In the case of a rider who is marginally qualified, the quality of the events and the level of competition may be taken into account.
You will receive notification of approval or denial via e-mail.
